Hi,
I am designing a board variants one with 4 LEDs on one string and one with 8 LED on 2 parallel strings.
Considering maxV and maxI are within spec are there any negatives to doing this?
Regards
Nick

Hello Nicholas,
Paralleling LED strings is not uncommon. The only thing is to try and match the forward voltage of the two strings as close as possible so they share current as well as possible. If all of the LEDs are the same device it usually works well. If there is concern about some mismatch you can always add a little series resistance with each string, but that usually isn't necessary.
