How to select transform for 5Vin / 5Vout 0.3A application?

Does EVB used "750311880" can be use? enclosed file is i run webench result. is it ok?

Hi Chen,

The transformer used on the EVM is suitable for 0.3 A current. Also the WEBENCH design looks normal.

Hello Anthony,

According to the transformer (750311880 on slvu459 EVM specification , it mentioned that the DC current is 200mA rather than 300mA.(see attached)

Is it okay to use the same transformer on output 300mA@5V design ?

It is ok using it for 300 mA. The DCR of the secondary is low enough and the saturation rating of the transformer is high enough support more than the 200 mA shown in the drawing. The values they put on the spec sheet are just the application the transformer was originally designed for.

Because the customer have transform size highest issue, may you pls also help check as below 2 reference design also can be use in Vin4.5~5V/Vout 5V 0.3A iout application?

Or you can suggest a transformer (support output 5V@300mA) which height is less 9.7mm?

Hi Bogey,

In the past I have tested the MTC-0029SG used in PMP4440 up to 300 mA load and it worked well. This transformer has higher DCR on the secondary than what was used on the TPS55010EVM-009 so there will be some difference in performance. Specifically the efficiency and output regulation across load will be a little worse. I suggest contacting the transformer vendor for samples to try this one.
