TPS54388-Q1: If TPS54388 has eco mode

Part Number: TPS54388-Q1

Hi,Team:

Can you help to check if TPS54388 has eco mode? Seems not but no detailed explain in datasheet.

From datasheet, there is boot-PH >2.2V requirement.  If it has ECO mode, it may have some issue in low dropout and light load condition for example Vin=5V, Vout=3.3V,Iload<1mA or even no load.

Besides, what's the start up delay from Enable rising edge to Vout rising? From datasheet figure 28, seems there is 0.2-0.4mS delay. Now, we have application that need the very short enable to Vout ready time and need to check.

The TPS54388-Q1 design improves dropout by operating at 100% duty cycle as long as the BOOT-to-PH pin
voltage is greater than 2.2 V. A UVLO circuit turns off the high-side MOSFET, allowing for the low-side MOSFET
to conduct when the voltage from BOOT to PH drops below 2.2 V. Because the supply current sourced from the
BOOT pin is low, the high-side MOSFET can remain on for more switching cycles than are required to refresh
the capacitor. Thus, the effective duty cycle of the switching regulator is high.

  • Alpha,
Tps54388-Q1 does not have eco-mode. It may skip pulses when the COMP pin voltage is at it's minimum value. There is no intentional delay from the rising edge EN to the start of the slow start. The rise time of Vout is controlled by the SS capacitor.
