TPS704: Need to find a replacement for obsoleted resistor in datasheet

Part Number: TPS704

I am currently using TPS70451 for generating 3.3V and 1.8V.

As the picture attached, the resistor(250 kohms) in the datasheet is almost obsoleted. Wondering could I modify the value of those resistors to 249 kohms?

And what specifications (power, voltage, etc) do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Changqi,

250 kohms is not a standard value, so the nearest standard resistor value is 249 kohms. Yes, you can use 249 kohms, the value is not critical for this application. A 0201 or larger package surface mount resistor will work fine here.

If PG1, PG2 and /RESET are at 0 V, the max voltage across the resistors is 3.3 V.
High voltage rated resistors are not needed. 0201 thick film standard resistors are rated to 30 V. Larger packages have even higher voltage rating.

Power dissipated when those outputs are at 0 V can be calculated from Power = Voltage^2 / Resistance (P = V^2/R)
Power = (3.3 V)^2 / 249 kohms = 43.7 uW. 0201 thick film resistor is rated for 50 mW and could be used. Larger packages have higher power rating.
  • Thanks so much. It is really helpful.
