WEBENCH® Tools/UCC256301: Adding a second DC output in Webench

Part Number: UCC256301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28056,

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

I am trying to design a Power supply with Active PFC + LLC controller. The Active PFC is based on the UCC28056 and provides a 400V DC bus. On the DC output of the LLC based on the UCC256301, I need 2 outputs, 42V@2.8A  and 5V@0.6A (total output power is 120.6W). I need a transformer design for this. Is there an option to add a second DC output in Webench ? Alternately, is there any other tool I can use for the transformer design ?

From a design perspective, I do not need very tight regulation on the 2nd DC output of 5V. I can tolerate up to +/- 10% on the 5V rail. I do not need Synchronous Rectification on the Outputs.

Regards,

Raj

  • Hi Raj,

Thanks for your interest in UCC256301. I do not believe it is currently possible to add a second output voltage in the webench model but it is certainly possible to modify the existing Simplis model for UCC256301 to add a second output voltage. The transformer design would require an additional two windings on the secondary:

The added turns would need a new turns ratio to obtain 5V (use equation 6 from the UCC256301 datasheet). When calculating stresses for the primary side components remember to account for the 3W the 5V rail requires.

    Best Regards,

    Ben Lough
