Is the part CMOS or bipolar

  • Hi Munir,

Thanks for your question. This part is processed in a CMOS process.

Are you looking for a gate driver fabricated in a bipolar process?
  • Hi Munir,

Thanks for asking about LM5101. I am an apps engineer with this device and will answer.

LM5101 has a CMOS output stage. This info can be found in the datasheet section 9 paragraph 2.

Are you concerned about latchup? Latchup is not a risk if the voltage/current levels applied to the device stay within the abs max ratings.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Jeff, I am evaluating the part for single event latchup. CMOS is potential latchup but bipolar is not. So, if you have an equivalent part, I can recommend it to my customer.
  • Why is latchup not a concern, when operated within spec max.? I am concerned with cosmic ray induced latchup and not electrical latchup.
  • Hi Munir,

Thanks for the update. I have the understanding that all the drivers that belong to the High Reliability group, at the moment, are all bipolar based so they will all be latch-up free. However if you require a driver that is bipolar only (and not biCMOS) and radiation tolerant then you will probably need a space version but there are no half bridge HiRel drivers, we may need to use two lowside bipolar drivers.

    1) For bipolar halfbridge check out UC2950.
    2) For HiRel bipolar only lowside drivers check out the V class space version for any 'UC' parts. A complete list of HiREL drivers can be found by going to ti.com/hirel and selecting "MOSFET and IGBT Gate Driver" under Power Management Products. You can then filter out based on the specific rating you need on the left side of the screen.

Please let me know if you have not found your driver, we can contact someone from the HiRel group to give a more detailed answer.
    Thanks,
