TPS40170: PMP6680 solution about FET selection

Part Number: TPS40170

Our customer would like to design the following power condition circuit.

Vin: 40V
Vout: 12V
Iout: 20A

I checked PMP6680 design because input and output condition is almost the same.
However TI's FET is not used in this design.

Do you have any reason why you didn't use your FET? Is it thermal concern?

If it is possible, we want to use parallel CSD18537 and CSD18563. Do you have any concern about this?

Hello Sasaki-san,

The reference designs are meant to show many different examples of how to use the TPS40170. The PMP6680 was released before the CSD18537 and CSD18563. These FETs will be appropriate choices for 40V input.

Another more recent design that can be used as an example is PMP8629. This design uses CSD18537 and CSD1856. http://www.ti.com/tool/PMP8629

Thank you for your answer.

I could understood the reason why you didn't use your FET.

In this time, output requirement is 12Vout, 20A.

Thus we are thinking to use CSD18537 and CSD18563 with two parallel.
Is there no concern abut these combination?
