LMR70503: LMR70503 maximum operating current and efficiency at high temperatures

Part Number: LMR70503

We have a design for optical modules  application,

we will use LMR70503 for power output.Vin is 3.3V,and Vout is -5V.

We need to know the maximum output current and efficiency at high temperatures. The high temperature is 80 degrees Celsius.

If the temperature is 130 degrees Celsius, is it working properly?

thanks!

  • We don't have the characterization data of the efficiency at high temperature. It is also depends on your system heat sinking capability. The switch peak current limit is guaranteed above 270mA, which can be used to estimate your load current. You need to determine the inductor value then calculate the ripple current, and then from there to get the guaranteed max load current.

It the temperature is 130C, it may work but the current limit may slight reduce because the datasheet spec limits are obtained over -40C and +125C.
  • Hi User,

Here is a power module reference design for optical modules with your same specs: www.ti.com/.../TIDA-01457

It supports a higher current and is more efficient.
