TPS65090: Not using the LDOs

Part Number: TPS65090

Hi Team,

One of our customer is using the TPS65090 but has decided to not use LDO1/2 on the TPS65090.

What would be the recommended circuit for this case? Can they disconnect power from the inputs and remove all the decoupling caps?

Thanks and best,

Jerry

  • Yes, it is OK to remove power from the inputs (VSYS_L1/L2) and remove the de-coupling caps at inputs and outputs (VLDO1/2) when the LDOs are not used on the TPS65090. This is because there is no single main PGOOD pin or PGOOD bit on this device; therefore, the output voltage of the LDOs means nothing to the rest of the system.

As far as the termination is concerned, I would keep FB_L1/2 shorted to the output (VLDO1/2) and either float both the input & output or connect both to GND. But I would keep these pins at the some potential (floating or GND).
