TPS1H100-Q1: IC has internal clamp voltage for CL pin ?

Part Number: TPS1H100-Q1

Hi Team

TPS1H100-Q1 has Abs Max CL Voltage = 7V and Abs Max CL Current 30mA.

my question is IC has internal clamp voltage for CL pin ?

and how about our other hide side drivers also have internal clamp for CL pin ?

CL pin's internal Vclth is 1.233V for curren tlimit, so that normally CL pin will not go above 1.233V.

however, I would like to know the worst case.

for example(just example...),

with Rcl = 1Kohm, assuming 10mA flowing out from CL pin by Iout/2000 = 20A/2000,

it will make 10V(= 1Kohm x 10mA) on CL pin which is above Abs Max 7V.

  • Hello,

The CL pin is the negative input of the current loop Op-Amp. The positve input is tied to a reference voltage of 1.233V. When the voltage on CL pin = RcL x IOUT/KcL reaches the 1.233V, the current closed loop regulates the CL voltage and the output current. It is regulation and not clamping. The voltage on CL pin can not go higher than 1.233V regardless of the external resistor value. The CL pin sourcing current is proportional to load current. By increasing the external resistor value, the current limit set reduced according to the formula VcL = Rcl x IOUT/KcL. The absolute max on CL pin must be taking in consideration. Higher than 7V on this pin can damage the internal Op Amp negative input.
