BQ27410-G1: Buying evaluation modules for different kinds of fuelgauge and battery charge chips

Part Number: BQ27410-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24193, BQ27426, BQ34Z100-G1, BQ40Z50-R2

Dear TI

Is it still possible for me to get evaluation modules for a couple of different fualgauges and battery charge chips (like the bq24193) to evaluate for using in our product?

We have been using the bq27410, bq27425 and bq24193 for quite some time now, but our most recent applications would require us to go bigger, both capacity and battery voltage, and I would like some evaluation kits for these.

We want to use either 8x3000mAh 18650 cells in parallel, or 9x3000mAh 18650 cells in a 3S3P configuration.

Anything you provide that can work for us - first in evaluation format because we do not want to spin PCBs just for testing - would be greatly beneficial.

Kind regards

Erick Minnie

  • hi Erick,
Pls check the ti estore. If those EVMs are not available then it likely means you are unable to order it. I would steer you towards our more recent gauges like the bq27426 or bq27421.
pls refer to app note below for guidance for gauging high cells.

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx

Thanks for this, I will have a look.

Can you suggest certain gauges for my application?

    Kind regards

    Erick

  • Hi Onyx

I see in a post you made to a certain Eesu that multicell applications would require a pack-side gauge.
    See below:

    In reply to Eesu:

The bq34z100-G1 would be your best option for a system side gauge supporting 2s. It is recommended for multicell applications to always use a pack side gauge.

    thanks

Now with regards to my application of 18650 for either 1S8P or 3S3P what would you recommend?
By the way I'm still looking at the EVM modules.
Seems like there are still quite a couple to buy.

    Kind regards
    Erick
  • For the 1s8p, i would recommend the bq27542 for pack side and bq27520 for system side.
for the 3s3p, i would recommend the bq40z50-R2
