LP8556: LP8556 - Partnumber and "PWM Only"

Part Number: LP8556

I have 2 questions about the LP8556. We have two questions regarding the datasheet.
On page 3 for the package type 3 different devices are specified. LED Channel Count 5, 4, or 6. Unfortunately, we do not find this subdivision anywhere else in the datasheet.
Can you tell us how and where the devices differ?

The second question also applies to page 3. The Device Option column reads "PWM ONLY" - Recommended for Systems without on I2C master.
In our design, we would like to use I2C. Pinning on page 4 also lists the I2C pins for the WQFN types.
For safety, the question of whether the WQFN types also offer I2C functionality. Either the pinning is wrong or the "PWM ONLY" is a little too hard.

  • For your questions:
    1) for detailed register default values, please refer to page 36 and 37
    2) I2C is open to use, the once marked at "PWM ONLY" means using the values in EPROM by default, customer could use only PWM input to dimming, the device could work. for others, I2C read and write is needed to make backlight on.
