TPS780: Dual-output regulator with higher input voltage

Part Number: TPS780
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A39, TPS709

Hi!

I am trying to find a low-power linear regulator that has a dual-output for switching output voltages(3,3V or 2,2V) when in active/sleep modes with my MSP430. TPS780 looks very good, however it has max Vin=5,5V and I might need a battery of 9V or 12V. (I would not prefer an extra regulator to get down to 5V. )

Are they any alternative modules for this application?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Thibault

  • Hi Thibault,

    Thank you for your request.
Unfortunately we don't have anything with a wider input range that can support up to 12V with a dual output. The closest one would be the TPS7A39 which supports up to +/-33V but is a +/- rail device. This means that there is no single chip solution to this.

If however you can make do with a two chip solution, I would recommend TPS709 as it can support up to 30V.

    Regards,
    Wilson
