UCD9081:

Part Number: UCD9081
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9080, UCD9090

Hi Team,

My customer is surveying UCD9081 and has some questions, please could team help to comment on this.

1. Can UCD9081's I2C interface connect to other devices with PMBUS interface?

2. How to configure the enable pin's output polarity?

3. Is there any example of commend setting can be shared with customer?

Thanks very much.

  • Hi Vincent

#1. UCD9081 is 100KHz deviceand it is not recommened to share the same i2c bus with other slaves which need clock stretching.
#2. This can be easily done from the UCD9081 GUI (ACTIVE HIGH or LOW). The GUI is avaialbe at www.ti.com/.../toolssoftware.
#3. the GUI provides a default configuration setting of UCD9081 EVM. THis can be a good reference.

    I would recommend to order a UCD9081-EVM(www.ti.com/.../ucd9081evm ) + USB-TO-GPIO Adapter(www.ti.com/.../usb-to-gpio) to be familiar with the device.

    Regards
    Yihe
  • If they are planning to use a sequencer with a UCD92xx controller or any of our other PMBus compliant controllers then it might make more sense for them to use any of the other UCD90xxx parts which are also PMBus compliant. The UCD9090 is the closest sized device to the UCD9081. Only the UCD9080/9081 devices are legacy I2C, they have a separate GUI from the Fusion GUI used by the newer devices.
