TPS3306-18 Apparent Latch Up



We are using the TPS3306-18 with Vdd = 3.3V and Sense1 = 5V, Sense2 = 1.8V.  At ~20C power up we are seeing the part apparently latch up with the part driving reset and the oscillator not running.   We can tell this by putting a FET probe on the power pins (we can see the oscillator when it runs.  The Sense1 input comes up before the Vdd.    

Q: is there any input condition that can cause this latch up?  Transients?  

We are in the process of monitoring the input pins at power up to see if any transients are occuring.

  • Michael, I put together a board then tested the startup sequence of Sense1 = 5V, Vdd = 3.3 V and Sense2 = 1.8 V.  I was unable to replicate any issues with latch up.  /RESET was high and the oscillator was running after all of the voltages were at the appropriate level.  I tested this with every possible start up sequence.  Also note the oscillator does not run whenever /RESET is active.

    Can you please post your schematic and I can look into this further.
