TPS563209: design for low current application

Part Number: TPS563209
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS563200

Hi Anthony,

In continuation with our previous discussion i have one more query related to TPS563209. As specified in data sheet of TPS563209, it is CCM controller. For low current application order of 100mA how does it maintain CCM mode with low inductance 2.2uH or 4.7uH inductor as specified in data sheet and keeping frequency fixed at around 650 KHz.

Thanks and Regards

Harikant

  • In contrary with TPS563200, TPS563209 does not have zero inductor current detection. The low side FET will be force on when inductor current cross zero and go negative until the FB voltage is equal to Vref. The control logic is only about CAP2. One reminder here is that the inductor value could not be chosen to the smallest value as possible. There is a negative current limit and the valley inductor current should not be lower than that. Please follow the recommended table to choose the LC. Thanks!
