BQ24190: BQ24190 Not Charging

Hi I have a BQ24190 connected to a Lithium Ion Battery.

Battery Voltage is 3.6V

After connecting adaptor, It is not charging the battery.

The register values are are below in hex from 00 to 0A

It is tied to ground via 10K resistor

If you can monitor VBUS, SW, BAT, and IBAT on an oscilloscope, that would be very helpful.

Please try to capture the startup waveform when VBUS is attached with a 100ms to 200ms/div scale to also capture switching action.

The issue was with thermister.
The thermistor was short.
I replaced it and now the charging is taking place.

Now if I connect adaptor with D+/D- Detection, charger is working at specified desired current.
If I connect Bench Supply with 5V, 2A Output, Current limit is automatically set to 100mA.
If I increase the current limit to 1.5A through REG00, charging is done at 1.5A for few seconds and then it automatically reverts to 100mA.
What is the solution for this issue?

Hello Manoj,

The bq24190 has automatic D+/D- detection when an input is applied; this is meant for an USB application. In your application, since you are using an DC supply as the input, you must configure the D+/D- pins on the device accordingly to the truth table details in the datasheet to obtain the correct input current limit at insertion.

Regarding the behavior after a few seconds the input current limit reverting back to the previous values, sounds like the watchdog timer isn't disabled. By default it will expire every 40 seconds. Please verify whether your WDT is disabled.
