TPS2413: Reverse current

Part Number: TPS2413

Dear all,

in my design I have two power BUSES ORed together:

BUS1 that is set to 4.9V and controlled by the ORing device TPS2413

BUS2 that can be open or equal to 5.1V

I have a doubt about the reverse current during the 70ns (Turnoff delay) of TPS2413 when the BUS2 is activated; who limits the reverse current during this period (I think only the Rds(on) of the mosfet and the current limit of the BUS2 voltage controller)?

Thanks in advance and Best Regards

  • Hello Giorgio Saccavino,

Reverse current turn off threshold is programmed using RSET pin of TPS2413. This threshold can be programmed from positive 3mV (yes, it can be programmed positive) to negative -300mV. So the reverse current is reverse turnoff threshold / Rdson of MOSFET.

Current limit of BUS2 also limits when the current limit is lower than the above programmed reverse current.

    Regards,
    Kari.
  • Hello Kari,
your answer may be good but, if you see the figure 6 or 7 in the datasheet (and in specifications too), you can see that after the V(ac) drops below the threshold, for 68ns (Delay time) the MOSFET is ON. I think that during this time (it is very small, I know) there is no limitation in the reverse current (except Rds(on), current limits and other parasitic elements in the circuit).

    Regards
    Giorgio
