LM5121-Q1: How could we use webench to simulate LM5121-Q1 under 4.5V-30V input, 8V at 14A output?

Part Number: LM5121-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5121

Dears:

How could we use webench to simulate LM5121-Q1 under 4.5V-30V input, 8V at 14A output?

We must let the Max input Voltage is lower than output Voltage and the Webench will give a design. However, it will  be influenced on the MOS and Diodes' selection.

And Webench can not provide the design under Bypass mode.

Could you kindly help to give some advice?

  • Hi Luck,

Thank you for considering the LM5121. Your input conditions confused the Webench tool, because you give a condition that actually requires a buck-boost controller not a boost controller. Webench choose the right device according to the Vin and Vout range.

Yes I understand what you want to do, but you need to find to way to prevent the confusion for Webench tool. In this case, you need to reduce your input voltage to below maybe 13V, and the Webench would create a design for you. This design will work in your real case because when Vin is approaching Vout or higher than Vout, the LM5121 will operate in bypass mode and the boost switching will stop.

    Hope this clarifies the issue.
