TPS62097: TPS62097 Pre-Bias Start-Up?

The TPS62097 web page says that this device is capable of  Pre-Bias Start-Up. The data sheet says nothing. So which is it?

Does the TPS62097-Q1 support Pre-Bias Start-Up?

    Yes, it can start into a pre-bias. However, the output discharge generally discharges any pre-bias present on the output.
  • Thank you for the answer. A follow up question:
    Imagine that the enable input is driven low, and the devices enters shut down and starts to discharge the output caps.
    The enable input is then suddenly driven high, before the device has had time to complete the discharge cycle.
    What will happen?
    The reason for asking, is that we have had problems with devices (non TI) that will break down if intrerrupted during the discharge phase. (the "lower" "freewheeling" MOSFET is damaged).

    Thanks for explaining. You are more than welcome to test out an EVM and see how it performs for your system.

    You can see in the electrical table that the device has both forward and reverse current limits on the power FETs. This prevents excessive current from flowing.

    In the case you describe, the SS/TR pin is also discharged when EN is low. The device will regulate the output voltage to the voltage set by the SS/TR pin and FB resistors.
