UC2909-EP: 24V lead-acide battery charger

Hello,
for a new design of circuit at 24V, I need to charger a 2 batteries in serie (12V at 7Ah max) and I'm searching for a TI cheaper solution.
I'm see UC2909-EP, but I note that need external mosfet.
My question is: is there a simpler solution? Or do I need use a resistors and mosfet and manage the charge using some resource of microcontroller just present on my circuit?
Any solutions?

Hey Federico,

The UC2909-EP is the only battery management charging IC that TI offers at this time.

I don't know what you currently use, but the UC2909-EP is all we have offered.

Dear Daniel,
in two old projects, we use:
1) a DC-DC at 1A with adj current limiter. But the circuit is not very simple and I need to reduce the BOM.
2) some resistors (1 sense resistor) and 1 mosfet, but sometimes not works very well.
and it was possible to make 24V acid-lead batteries.

The US2909 solution is not cheaper, because the price is 5.50 USD for 1k pcs. And then it needs to add external components (mosfet and push-pull transistors)...

Hey Federico,

I understand that the UC2909-EP is not cheaper than what you currently use, but as far as what EP devices we offer for battery chargers that is all that we have.

What High Reliability products we offer can be limited at times.

thank You for your reply.

But do You have a plan for other cheaper and simpler acid-lead batteries charger? Even if the charger algorithm is enough simple, but there're many application with that battery type...
What do you think about?

There are currently no plans to make more Lead-acid battery chargers for High Reliability.
