TPS61088: Low input voltage and high current compatibility

Hi,

TPS61088 can give 12V,4.7A (56 W) output at 60 degree celcius for input range 6V - 8.4V (according to WEBENCH designer). But our input range is 2.5V-4.2V and we want to drive around 30W (9V,3A or 12V,2.5A) load at same temperature conditions.

I came across one such design PMP9772 which takes low input voltage but Can this design(PMP9772) or any other circuit fulfill our requirement? Please suggest any boost circuit for this conditions

Hi Sir,

Since your max output power is 12V/2.5A, for the TPS61088, to output such high power, its input voltage should be higher than 3V. When Vin is lower than 3V, there will have thermal issue.

Is 12V, 2.5A a continuous output power?

Hi Helen,
we need 12V, 2A continuous output power for 1.5 to 2 hours.
Can you suggest any part to make this feasible? Because we need to boost single cell battery voltage(2.5 to 4.2V).

Dear Sir,

Thanks for the update. Your input voltage is 2.5V-4.2V, is it a Lithium battery ? As far as I know the lowest voltage of the Lithium battery in the real application is around 3-3.3V, why the lowest voltage is so low in your application?
