TPS715: Operation at 1-10uA

Part Number: TPS715

Hi All,

I have a battery application that requires very light loads and the Vout Accuracy of the TPS715 is not specified below 100uA.  Do we have any data on Vout Accuracy from 1-10uA?  If not ,can you suggest an alternate part?  The requirements for this application are as follows:

The standby current of our slave IC is only 1µA, the master has to send a “wake-up” signal.  We can’t add any dummy loads to increase load current, either, bec that will cause the pack to drain too quickly.  Has TI characterized the voltage increase if I-load is this low?

Since the slave must be compatible with voltages of the master that range between 3.10-5.25V, and logic transitions are acknowledged when 0.7*Vcc is reached, the thought was to adjust the LDO to get nominal Vcc of 4.036V, and with an assumption of a Voltage Accuracy of 4%, we would guarantee enough voltage to ensure logic transitions are read properly.  If Vout Accuracy is significantly worse at light loads (1-10uA) the TPS71501 may not be the best fit for this application.  If that's the case, please recommended another adjustable regulator assuming the following criteria:

  1. Quiescent current draw no more than 10µA.
  2. Load currents will vary from 1µA in standby/sleep mode to 10mA maximum in operational mode.
  3. Input voltage must be able to handle at least 21V.
  4. Adjustable output voltage.
  5. Small package, of course, as it needs to fit within a battery module.

Thank you, John Garrett TI-AFA
