LP3907: Minimum Input Capacitance for the LDOs

Part Number: LP3907

Hi Team,

For VINLDO1 and VINLDO2, what is the minimum input capacitance specified for the device? I found this information for the switching power supplies, but do not see it for the LDOs.

Thank you for your support!

Jared

  • Jared,
I forwarded your question to the product specialist for this part. You should get a response soon.
  • Hi Jared,

The parametric table assumes a 1uF input capacitor for the LDOs, mentioned above table 7.6, so this could be considered the minimum.

The input capacitor of the LDO primarily needs to support load transients fast enough to be affected by the input trace inductance, but can also reduce noise that might couple to the input. Because of this, it can be adjusted to the particular application.

    Best Regards,

    Rick S.
