TPS2501 FAULT output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2501The TPS2501 datasheet says the FAULT output is asserted (low) when VUSB is below 4.6V. Does this include when the part is shutdown? If I set EN and ENUSB both low, so the boost converter is off and VAUX and VUSB both go to zero, is the FAULT output asserted in this state? Thanks.
  • In thermal shutdown, the FAULT/ is asserted. If by shutdown, you mean unpowered the FAULT/ is not asserted.

In the next case where En and ENUSB are both low, FAULT/ is not asserted.

Fault is only asserted on Over-current or Over-Temperature.

  • That's great, thank you. It was the EN and/or ENUSB low condition that I was concerned about. The datasheet (words and block diagram) makes it sound like FAULT is asserted whenever VUSB is below 4.6V, which is clearly the case when the boost converter is disabled and the output is off. It is convenient for me if that is not the case and FAULT is only asserted when there is an actual fault condition.
