Hi, 

Thanks for the previous explanation.  I was wondering if the equivalent resistance network would be similar for a TPS736 device?  Again, this is for the calculation of the DC output impedance when EN and VIN are low.  Vout would be low as well in this case.

    Hi,

    The TPS736 has an NMOS pass element. One advantage of using n-channel pass FETs is that they can achieve lower dropout voltages compared to a p-channel pass FET of the same size. In dropout, the equivalent network will be the same but Rdson will be smaller, resulting in a smaller output impedance compared to the TPS763.

    Another advantage of using n-channel pass FETs is their built in reverse current protection. The parasitic body diode of n-channel pass FETs do not conduct current in the reverse (VOUT to VIN) direction. When EN and VIN are low, the pass FET is in a high impedance state, and the equivalent network simplifies to the feedback network in parallel with the load.
