CSD18511Q5A: temperature related top side measurement and MTBF

Part Number: CSD18511Q5A

Hello,

We are using the CSD18511Q5A in a design.

The top-side of the IC is in the 90 - 110oC range.
- Is this acceptable for the IC to last 5 years of operation in this condition 110oC top side package temperature?
- What would be the expected lifetime loss of the device going from 90 to 110oC top side package temp?

Thank you, Keith

  • Keith,

    Thanks for posting.
I have contacted our reliability engineers to get you and answer on this and will respond as soon as I can.
  • Keith,

With regards to the reliability numbers we normally only supply MTTF in hrs and FIT rates. As such the numbers below are these for the two operating temperatures you mentioned above, then these numbers can be plugged into the customer reliability models to get lifetimes.

Assuming no heatsink we can then make the assumption that the top of the package temperature is ~ silicon temperature.

    So 90degC has
FIT rate 36.7, MTTF (hrs) 2.72E+07 @ 60% confidence level
FIT rate 92.3, MTTF (hrs) 1.08E+07 @ 90% confidence level

    So 110degC has
FIT rate 118.1, MTTF (hrs) 8.46E+06 @ 60% confidence level
FIT rate 92.3, MTTF (hrs) 3.37E+06 @ 90% confidence level
