LM5110: gate driver for mosfet switch in leui of needing a isolated source

Part Number: LM5110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5112

I need to control lower mosfet with a gate driver that is isolated, but design below does not allow for isolated grounds.  I could possible use an isolated power supply for gate drivers or maybe your LM5110 would create a negative voltage for mosfet drive?

  • Hi FJ,

Thanks for reaching out to the High Power Drivers' group, my name is Mamadou DIallo and I will help address your concerns.
LM5110 and LM5112 are great choices for its negative output voltage capability.
You may use LM5110-3 (dual inverting/non-inverting channels) and just use the inverting channel to drive the lower FET.

The thread below further discusses how to generate negative bias for the driver.
