TPS65262: How to understand the enable function of TPS65262

Part Number: TPS65262

TI`s engineer:

        How do you do?

I have some questions about TPS65262. The following question is it.

Number one: if MODE pin connect to GND, it will mean the enable function will depend on external device, such as MCU.Must be set as open drain output, it need have in series with resistor. Whether the resistor is needed? such as: MCU ---> resistor ---> EN pin.

Number two: if MODE pin connect to GND, it will mean the enable function will depend on external device. i use two resistors divide by Vin(12V), whether the resistance in accordance with following formule. Or select two resistors(the resistance don`t care) to get the voltage rather than threshold of EN pin.

Number three: if MODE pin connect to GND, and use two resistor to get voltage rather than threshold of EN pin. And the UVLO how to set if base on the following formule ? The Vstart and Vstop means...?

  Thank you very much!

The following content form page 15 of TPS65262`s datasheet.

  • hi,
    Please find my answer:

-->do not need the series resistor which you mentioned.

->Answer this question with the next one together.

->Vstart/stop means VIN's voltage. For example, in your application, VIN is 12V, normally, we set Vstart 8V and Vstop 7.5V, put the value to the equation, you can get R1/R2. Because EN pin has pullup current, strongly suggest you to use equation 2,3 to get R1/R2. (refer datasheet page 15.)
  • hi jason:
    Thank you for your reply!
    I got it!
  • hi jason:
    Thank you for your reply!
and another question about it. the Vstart and Vstop also mean UVLO threshold and if exceed the threshold the powergood pin will set.yes or not? because datasheet said that the external resistor will set new UVLO threshold.
  • hi jason:
anothor question, if i set new enable threshold, it will also change the UVLO threshold, and if voltage exceed the Vstart and Vstop the pin of powergood will set.yes or not?
    thank you!
  • Hi,

    1. The UVLO threshold(Start 4.25V/Stop 3.75V) claimed in EC table still takes effect. However, as the UVLO set by you with the registers is higher than the value in EC table, so the UVLO set by you will really take effect.
    2. The output of PGOOD depends on Vout. If VIN exceed the UVLO threshold, the device would stop working, so the Vout will be out of regulation, which means PGOOD will be set to low.

    Hao
