Hi Kai,
The reason majority of lighting applications use non-isolated DCDC converters is because lighting is typically in the ceiling and fully enclosed where a person cannot physically touch the internals of the end equipment. As such, a constant current buck converter is a commonly used DCDC topology for lighting applications. Like the solution we use in our TPS2372-3EVM-757 EVM or our TIDA-01463 connected lighting reference design.
