TPS62000: Why the long leads?

Hello,

I am looking into using a high temperature board design using the TPS62000SHKK. I noticed that the footprint has very long leads. I am wondering what the purpose is for this. In a buck regulator, we normally want to minimize the areas of the hot loops, so will want to place the components as close to the pins as possible. However, the pins extend out very far. So the question is why are the pins so long, and what are the recommendations for this layout-wise?

I would also like to ask if it is possible to generate thermal resistance junction-to-ambient metrics for this chip, as the datasheet does not have any for the HKK package.

Hello,
the SHKK does not exist in our current portfolio. There is only VSSOP package available with the thermal information in the datasheet.

Hi

Sorry, I do not understand. TPS62000SHKK is still an active part. Why is not it in the portfolio? I have question about the package I cant identify from datasheet where is pin 1 on ceramic dual flatpack (HKK).

Hey Rasto,

The TPS62000SHKK is part of my portfolio which is why there is confusion. I apologize for the inconvenience.

The HKK has very long leads because we allow our customers to trim and form them to their desired length.

There are no special rules when designing layout with the HKK package.

As far as Pin 1 on the HKK package, if you look at the description on page 2 of the datasheet it shows the pinout.
