TPS62825: Difference from TPS62821 series

Part Number: TPS62825
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62821, , TPS62822

Hi,

Could you tell me the difference between TPS62821 series(TPS62821/2/3) and TPS62825 series(TPS62825/6/7)?
As far as I see the data sheet, I think that there is no difference in characteristics other than packages.
And I understand that TPS62825 series are better because the package of TPS62825 is smaller.
Are there a point that the TPS62821 series is superior?

Best regards,
Yuto Sakai

  • Hello Yuto,
overall both devices are similar and as you already noticed TPS62825 has a smaller package (1.5x1.5 mm QFN package) for high power density solution. The TPS62821/2/3 is a family with the output current of 1, 2, 3 A and the TPS62825/6/7 is a family with the output current of 2, 3, 4 A.
  • Hi Alfonso-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
    Is there a point that TPS62822 / 3 is superior compared to TPS62822 / 3 and TPS62825 / 6?
Since the electrical characteristics are almost the same,
I would like to know in which case the TPS62822 / 3 will be the optimum device.

    Best regards,
    Yuto Sakai
  • Hello Yuto,
TPS62822/3 and TPS62825/6 have similar electrical characteristics. However, TPS62825/6 have a smaller package compared to TPS62822/3 that could be useful in case of reference design with a reduced area.
    Which is your application?
