LP87524J-Q1: Programming via USB2ANY

Part Number: LP87524J-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, LP87524Q1EVM

Hi,

I am using the LP87524Q1EVM. It uses an onboard microcontroller to communicate via I2C with the LP87524 device. I would like to use an external USB2ANY adapter to communicate with the device. What modifications do I need to make on the board to make this possible. Please note that I don't want to use the GUI, instead I want to be able to program registers individually using the USB2ANY hardware/software.

Thanks!

  • Hello, this has been assigned to the appropriate engineer who will get back with you shortly.
  • Hi Waqas,

Yes it is possible to disconnec the on-board uC from the LP87524x and use external controller connected to the I2C bus. The EVM user guide has full schematic of the board. R14 and R15 (0ohm) connect SDA and SCL pins to the on-board uC. So you need to remove those, connect R7 and R8 (1k8) as pull-ups and connect 3.3V io voltage to the VIOSYS connector (X5). You can use the test points on the edge of the board for connecting SDA, SCL and GND to the USB2ANY (or any other controller).

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi
