TPS7A91: About currren limit

Part Number: TPS7A91

Hi,

Could you tell me about TPS7A91 current limit function.
Is there a regulation of the time to trigger overcurrent protection?
Customer wants to know the pulse regulation in which overcurrent protection is activated.

Best Regards,
Yusuke

  • Hi Yusuke,

The TPS7A91 has internal circuitry designed to protect the device during load transient faults or shorting events by limiting the current through the pass FET. Like all protection circuitry, there is a time delay as the internal circuitry must first detect the fault condition and then respond. The typical overcurrent protection delay for this regulator is 25 us. This is the amount of time between the output current exceeding the typical current limit (1.7 A) and the peak output current. Once the output current peaks, the current limit circuit is fully active and reduces the output current to the device's rated current limit.

    Thanks,
    Gerard
