BQ24158: The value of the Battery Regulation Voltage and Maximum Battery Regulation Voltage can't exceed 4.2V?

Part Number: BQ24158
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24153A,

I attempt to use bq24158 to charge Li-lon battery, Vfloat = 4.4V. When I try to modify the register data via the GUI tool BQ24153A_9 EVM, I setup Battery Regulation Voltage = 4.4V, Maximum Battery Regulation Voltage = 4.42V, write the data to bq24158, and the read it, the read value of the Battery Regulation Voltage and Maximum Battery Regulation Voltage Respectively is 4.2V and 4.2V, not 4.4V and 4.42V. And if I try to write the value of the Maximum Charge Current with other value(not 950mA), then I read it, it is 950mA, not changed.

  • Hi,

The I2C writes to change the safety limit register (max battery regulation and max charge current) must be the first writes after the voltage at CSOUT rises above 2V (i.e. power on by input voltage or battery attach). If the host writes to any other register following power up, those registers are locked.
