LMS33460: Extended temperature use

All,

I have a customer that would like to use the LMS33460 in an ambient temperature of 95C. Since the recommended operating junction temperature is 85C, they are violating the TI datasheet. Customer would like to know if there is a strict restriction on using the part above 85C ambient. Since the parts Iq is quite low and they are using a 470K pull up, the maximum power dissipation will not increase the junction temperature above the 95C ambient. For this application there is no need for a precise threshold.

Hi Joe,

Being under absolute temperatures will provide basic functionality of the device, but violating recommending operating temperature will no longer guarantee electrical specification on the datasheet. Even though very unlikely, this can mean Iq will be higher and precision will be worse with no limits.

Hi Joe

Please review the latest TI voltage supervisor release : TPS3840 and this should be a better device in terms of overall performance and it is also rated upto 125C
