TPS2330: Power Switch solution alternates

Part Number: TPS2330
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25982, TPS25942A, TPS2595

What Power Switch alternatives exist that could work instead of using a TPS2330 as a power switch?  Gate driver circuit for an N-Channel FET (Vishay SI4456DY-T1-GE3)?

  • Hi Carl,

    Thanks for reaching out!
Can you share your application use case and protection requirements so that I will be in better position to recommend.
You can look at integrated solutions (FET+controller) for load currents <15A. Have a look at TPS25982 and let me know.

  • Rakesh, thanks for your message. The system with which I am working is a small, hand-held, 12V-battery-powered device. It has three small slider switches (Wuerth 450301014042): One for main system power and two subsystems downstream from the main 12V rail. The switches are only rated at 500mA. However, I need to switch about 3-4A for main and 1-2A for the next highest subsystem. So, my goal was to use the small switches to enable a low-R_DS_ON FET to switch the higher current via a hot-swap controller or other pass FET control device. The TPS2330 is not working out so far. However, I still need to control inrush current on the 2nd switch (at least) so as not to glitch loads upstream. The TPS25982 looks interesting. I have ordered the eval kit. When is this device ready for market? Please let me know. Thanks, Carl
  • Hi Carl,

Thanks for the information on your system requirements.
I have sent you private message on the TPS25982 schedule.

  • Rakesh, please see the attached.Requirements for eFuses.pdf

  • Hi Carl,

    Thanks for the details.
Since, current requirement is <5A, you can look at other devices TPS2595, TPS259241, TPS25942A however Ron is slightly higher than TPS25982 device.

    Rakesh
  • Rakesh, thanks.  But I need the ultra-low R_DS_ON that the TPS25982 provides.  I need an Altium Designer schematic symbol and footprint for this part.  Where can I find this?  Best regards, Carl

  • Hi Carl,

Please find attached files for TPS25982.
