TPS62175: TPS62175

Part Number: TPS62175

Hi,

When I tie "Sleep" pin on TPS62175DQC ICs to GND, I do expect to see a drop in current delivery to the output, but my circuit is still capable of providing 500+ mA regardless of the state of SLEEP pin.

I can measure the Quiescent current dropping from around 30uA to around 8uA when the SLEEP pin is tied to GND rather than a "iHgh" logic (around 6.5V in my circuit).

Any Ideas about what am I doing wrong?

I have made four boards and tested this on each one individually, with the same results.

Thanks.

  • Hi Kaveh,

When the device enters the Sleep mode, it should not be able to provide + 500mA in this State.

Can you provide the circuitry schematic of your system?

To better help you with your query, Could you also provide us waveforms regarding this quiescent drop from 30uA and 8uA and the output still being 500mA at the output?

Thank you for reaching out to us.

    Regards,

    Dorian

  • Hi Dorian,

I was able to measure the quiescent current before connecting the load, in order to confirm the IC is actually responding to the state change on SLEEP pin.

I get the same results with SLEEP pin left floating (Internal Pull-down according to datasheet) and tied to GND

Unfortunately, I'm unable to provide current waveforms. Measurements were done via a DMM.

    Thanks for the help,

    Kaveh

  • Hi Kaveh,

    Could you share with us:

What is your load setting? Does your system load change when you are entering in Sleep Mode?
If not the device will return to normal operation automatically.

Can you see while you are trying to get in Sleep Mode, if PG pin stay in a high logic state?
What is your input voltage? Can you as well provide a Voltage Waveform of the input during your test?

    Thank you very much!
    Best Regards,

    Dorian
  • Hi Dorian,

Found it, Last paragraph, page 11 of the datasheet. Confirmed PG signal going low for around 100uS and back high. The device looks like ti be entering normal operation mode afterwards.

    Thanks,

    Kaveh
