We are designing in this regulator as per the reference design in LMR16006XEVM. C4 and C5 are large MLCC ceramic capacitors. Unfortunately these types of caps are high risk due to global supply chain shortages. Can we substitute electrolytics? What are the concerns?

Hi Rich,

You can replace one of the capacitors with a low ESR electrolytic. You will want to keep one small ceramic capacitor on the output (4.7uF - 10uF). This capacitor should form a small loop from the output to ground. The electrolytic can be placed further away from the output.
