TPS54424: Please check the schematic design

Part Number: TPS54424
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53513

Hi all

I'm using this TPS54424 chip. Please check the schematic design. Thank you for your help

  • Hi Chen Chen,

To give a thorough review, can you give some details on the requirements your design and how the component selection was done? Otherwise all I can do is look for obvious errors.

I noticed a few things with this quick check.

    1. The fsw needs to be changed for the 0.9V output. Please see equation 12 on page 24 of the datasheet. You will likely need to reduce the fsw to ~500 kHz by changing R591 to 100 kΩ
    2. C530 should be a 100 nF cap. I also suggest adding a 0 Ω place holder in series with the cap.
    3. It looks like everything was just copy and pasted from the EVM values and that doesn't always work. I suggest either inputting your requirements into WEBENCH or using the datasheet equations to calculate the component values.

    Best Regards,
    Anthony

  • Hi  Anthony

Thank you for your quickly feedback. We are designing an SSD hard disk controller. The Requirements are as follows,We have completed the schematic design. Please give me some advises thanks.

  • Thank you for sharing this block diagram. I probably cannot give you much input on the block diagram of the full system and I am instead more interested in the design requirements specific to the TPS54424 and TPS53513 circuits. Also I'd like to understand how the external components around these converters were selected to meet these requirements.

  • Hi Chen Chen,

I am going to mark this as resolved. If you have any further question, feel free to post again to re-open this discussion.
