Hi,

I want to design a dual tracking power supply +-15V. I have designed this circuit for the +-15V and I have used a buck converter for the +15V. How can I achieve a proper tracking regulation not only at startup but also during operation?

    Thanks for reaching out with your question.

    Is the +15V rail going to change dynamically? If yes does the -15V need to follow the positive rail?

    The other option than cascading the regulators to to use a buck as and inverting buck boost. Please see the application note below.

    Hi Garrett,

    yes, in case of supply changes like load transient, -15V follows the +15V and viceversa: positive supply voltage should always have equal amplitude and opposite polarity compared to the negative power supply.

    My idea is generate -15 from 24V with a buck-boost like the one in figure and +15 from 24V with a buck. Both power supplies have a maximum current of 200mA.

    Hi Jacopo,

    I think it might be better to use a buck regulator to implement this design. The LM5160 might be a good solution for this design. It can be implemented as an inverting buck-boost.
