BQ24090: Problem at Current Control with ISET2

Part Number: BQ24090

Hi,

I am trying to charge my batery with BQ24090. When i set low the ISET2 the charger charges the battery acording to R38(R ISET) but if i set ISET2 high then it goes down too much like 120mA 130mA and it is not stable. Like it is trying to up the current but something does not let it. I dont know why. It should be 500mA right ? What can cause this ? Thank you.

  • Hello
    Double check the ISET2 pin voltage, it look like this pin is under the control of C_ISET signal. Check the signal with a scope to make sure it is a solid high or low. A Float condition will limit current to 100mA.

    ISET2 pin will program input - output current for USB or Adaptor:
    Low = ISET -- current set by R38 resistor of 1k will set current to about 540mA
    High=500mA -- current limited to 500mA max
    Float=100mA -- current limited to 100mA max
