LM2941C: ABX Max Voltage of OUT-pin

Part Number: LM2941C

Hi Power Management team,
Could you let me know ABS Max voltage of OUT(5pin) of LM2941CSX/NOPB?

Best regards,
Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

Please allow us some time to investigate this as LM2941C is an older device that was originally released by National Semiconductor.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi Satoshi,

We are still investigating this older National Semiconductor process. We appreciate your patience as we investigate.

  • Hi Satoshi,

We were not able to locate documentation on the Absolute Maximum rating on this older process; therefore, we are in the process of making measurements to determine where we would set the Absolute Maximum today. We appreciate your patience as we investigate.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi Satoshi,

As we were not able to find any documentation for the Absolute Maximum rating on this older device, we took bench measurements to intentionally stress the output voltage of the device.

Keep in mind that the LM2941C is designed, tested, and characterized for an output voltage of 5 to 20 V and an input voltage range of 6 to 26 V. Exceeding these recommended operating ranges may decrease the lifespan of the regulator. As such it is important to design your application to remain within these ranges.

We applied 30 V to the input and the output of the regulator for an extended period of time returning the input and output voltage back to within the recommended operating conditions. While we cannot state that the lifespan of the regulator was not altered, the regulator was still functional after the stress test.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
