LM2941C: Max voltage of OUT(5pin)

Part Number: LM2941C

Hi  team,
Could you let me know ABS Max voltage of OUT(5pin) of LM2941CSX/NOPB?

I would like to receive an answer within this week if possible.

Best regards,

  • Hi ,

As stated on the referenced thread, we need time to investigate this. LM2941C is an older device that was released by a different company (National Semiconductor) before being acquired by TI. As National Semiconductor did not list the absolute maximum rating for OUT in their datasheet, we are needing to investigate through other means. We appreciate your patience as we investigate.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi ,

We are still investigating this older National Semiconductor process. We appreciate your patience as we investigate.

  • Hi ,

We were not able to locate documentation on the Absolute Maximum rating on this older process; therefore, we are in the process of making measurements to determine where we would set the Absolute Maximum today. We appreciate your patience as we investigate.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi ,

As we were not able to find any documentation for the Absolute Maximum rating on this older device, we took bench measurements to intentionally stress the output voltage of the device.

Keep in mind that the LM2941C is designed, tested, and characterized for an output voltage of 5 to 20 V and an input voltage range of 6 to 26 V. Exceeding these recommended operating ranges may decrease the lifespan of the regulator. As such it is important to design your application to remain within these ranges.

We applied 30 V to the input and the output of the regulator for an extended period of time returning the input and output voltage back to within the recommended operating conditions. While we cannot state that the lifespan of the regulator was not altered, the regulator was still functional after the stress test.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi team,

I understood about the report matter.
    Thank you for your investigation.
