LM3466: PWM dimming

Part Number: LM3466

Can the LM3466 current balancer be used with PWM dimmable current sources? I suppose that if all the LED strings of the LM3466 lighting system are ok, even with PWM dimming the system works as expected.

If one LED string in the LM3466 lighting system is open (defective), at power on the VEQ cycles (as listed in the datasheet) and only after 253 VEQ cycles the power supply current is shared between the remaining strings.

I have tested this situation and the net result is that during the 253 VEQ cycles the system brightness is not as expected.

PWM dimming is essentially an ON-OFF control at the LED string. How do the LM3466 lighting systems will work with PWM dimming when one or more strings are defective?

Thank you.

Best regards.
