LM117HV: obsolescence: 5962R0722961VZA to 5962R0722962VZA

Part Number: LM117HV

Team,

We were using the 5962R0722961VZA (LM117HV) in a design, but that part is now obsolete so we’re looking at using the 5962R0722962VZA instead.

Do both parts use the same die?

If not, what are the differences?

Would you know why the 5962R0722961VZA went obsolete?

  • Kirby provided an answer for me:

These products are in a “gullwing” package, which is a ceramic flatpack (CFP) with the leads trimmed and formed, so the customer doesn’t have to.

The 61 used an AlN ceramic which has lower thermal resistance than standard AlO ceramic. That material is no longer available, so the part had to be moved to the standard AlO ceramic that is used on most of our products in CFP or gullwing packages. When this was done, the device number was changed to 62.

The die is the same for both products.

    Thanks Kirby!
