BQ27441EVM-G1A: Difference remaining capacity value

Hi

Could you please tell us about behavior of bq27441-G1A.

Companion charger : bq24074
Vin of bq24074 is applied from 5v adapter.

We read Remainingcapacity value by I2C.

Remainingcapacity value which was read after powering on the system (device initialization is done) was different from that of after system load was applied.

And Remainigcapacity value also seems to be depending on whether the adapter is connected or not.
(If adapter is disconnected, remaining capacity decrease less than adapter connecting.)

Is it normal that remaining capacity after system startup is different from that of after system load apply?

If it is normal, is there approach to elimiante difference?

BestRegards

It is possible because the gauge runs a remcap simulation at the start of charge or discharge. How much different are they? it shouldn't be starkly different if you configured your gauge correctly.

    thanks

  • Hi

    Thank you for your reply.

    >It is possible because the gauge runs a remcap simulation at the start of charge or discharge.

Does it mean That a correct remcap value can not be read unless after battery charging or discharging is done once at least?

    >How much different are they?
For example, 0% is read after initialization but 20% is read after applying load.
And sometime a correct value can be read even if after initialization.

I could not understand "configured gauge correctly".
Should the gauge be configured by I2C after system power up?
Can you show me detailed procedure? (or document if you have)

    BestRegards
  • No, it means at the start of dsg/chg a simulation is run. Even in relaxation, taking an OCV will also result in remcap sims.

The gauge should be programmed correctly prior to use by the host. Please use reference documents available on the product page, www.ti.com/.../BQ27441-G1
