CSD25481F4: Absolute Max Spec Vgs

Part Number: CSD25481F4

Good afternoon.....

I am using the above subject in a design and I notice that the absolute Vgs spec is shown as -12V.....I also notice a "standard diode" symbol between gate and source....Typically I am used to seeing a transorb type diode between gate and source with a +/- spec on Vgs.....Do I have to be careful about letting the Gate go positive with respect to the source on the FemtoFet family?

Thanks

Steve

  • Steve,

Thanks for coming to us and considering our MOSFETs.
The diode on the gate was put in to enable high gate ESD protection, and it is possible to conduct current through the diode and turn it on, which is why there is also a gate current specification in the datasheet, Ig, on the front page.
So yes with these single ended ESD protection devices to avoid the gate diode conduction care should be taken not to have a positive voltage on the gate. The diode will start to conduct current with around 0.4-0.5V.
