BQ27411-G1: What is the minimum parameters to get gauging functional

Part Number: BQ27411-G1

We are trying to use this fuel gauge in one of our products. It is installed in the end device, not in a battery pack so there is always a load when the battery is connected.

Is this possible? I read that it has to do a OCV measurement initially,

I initialize the device by writing the design capacity into the block data and I also change the SOCI Delta to 1, but when I read the registers during normal running, all the capacity and SOC registers are always zero.

The AverageCurrent and Voltage measurements are reading correctly. I get negative currents under load and positive currents when the battery is charging. The voltage reading matches my meter measurements.

I have plugged in a fresh battery and let it discharge from 4.2 down to 3.7 and plugged in a battery at 3.7 and let it charge to 4.2, but the SOC and Capacity registers never get .

I am looking for some advice on the minimal steps to get this gauge operational.

Thanks
