TPS61200: TPS61200 with MCP73123 Charger IC

Part Number: TPS61200

Hello I'm having a problem with a generic implementation of the MCP73123 usb charging IC which feeds to a LifePo4 battery and provides 3.2v-2.6v to a TPS61200 boost converter IC outputting 5v. Both IC's are laid out according to their datasheets and work fine in every way, except once I connect and disconnect a usb charger the boost converter shuts down.

To get around this I've designed a workaround that uses a p-mosfet to disconnect the power going to the boost IC while the usb charger is connected (gate to usb +5v, also to pull down resistor), but again I'm seeing the TPS61200 shut down under odd circumstances.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, is there a standard workaround or is a replacement part suggested? Open to all ideas, thanks in advance.
